Thank you for your commitment in 2024. What an excellent year it was! Last year at CcHUB was nothing but transformative with so many memories of excellent initiatives executed by GoVote – amidst the diverse changes. We couldn’t have done this without your dedication to the GoVote vision. From a vision that started in 2019 to bridge the gap between citizen and government, to becoming a leading voice in civic tech, civic education and digital rights and inclusion on the Africa continent.
At GoVote, we are committed to using technology and the power of community to improve democracy and engagement. In 2024, we focused on many impactful projects, significantly strengthening communities, amplified voices on emerging issues such as artificial intelligence; misinformation/disinformation; digital right; data governance, and scaled the GoVote program to over 15 countries on the continent through pan-African conversation and research . Globally, 2024 was tagged a global year of democracy, with over 70 elections held. Despite the decline in democracy, we joined the global “Year of Democracy Campaign”, learning networks, supported and strengthened our approaches to citizens engagement.
Beautiful Reflections
In 2024, we supported community-led initiative and global campaigns on big tech accountability, digital skills for women in politics – to close the digital gender gap, in order to promote inclusivity for women, and leverage digital platforms in an unrestricted way. We hosted 11 physical and virtual events – hosting over 580 participants across 20+ countries, and hosted 2 podcast events on spotify. Our GoVote champion’s family grew by over 70 new community members – with expansion to 7 new states. In the state’s off-cycle governorship & local government elections in 2024, we supported civic education and mobilized the community through radio programs and strategic stakeholders engagements – this we did with your support of our electoral champion -dubbed GoVote Champions.
Through our open source learning platform we empowered youths and civil society organizations to gain knowledge for transformative social impact. We expanded our website with the launch of an analytics dashboard – A platform of Interactive dashboards providing a matrix-based approach for strategically transitioning politics and civic discourse in Africa, using knowledge and evidence from best practices gathered online.
Looking Ahead
As we begin 2025, and continue the journey of impact and consolidate our wins in 2024, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to continue to explore the intersection of democracy, technology and society to advance Nigeria’s and Africa’s development.
